The Carkeek 47 “Stark Raving Mad IX” (“SRM IX”) is one of three Carkeek 47s built. Another notable Carkeek 47 is “Black Pearl.” 

Purchased by her current owner in 2021, SRM IX was completely upgraded and refinished. Major projects include: all new exterior coatings, bottom and appendage refinish, new running rigging, new mainsheet and traveler system, 

B&G H5000 with Garmin mast displays, and an investment of over $250,000 in new Doyle sails. A new carbon mast and EC6 rigging was installed in about 2018. She also has a trailer. 

Under her current owner, she has had over twenty podium finishes in the past three years including: 

• ’21 Inaugural Safe Harbor Regatta – 1st overall 

• ’21 Around the Island Race – 1st overall 

• ’21, ’23 Newport Cup – 1st 

• ’21, ’23 ORC East Coast Championships – 2nd 

• ’22 New York YC Race Week – 2nd 

• ’22 Sail for Hope - 1st overall 

• ’23 Les Voiles de St. Bart – 2nd 

• ’23 Block Island Race Week – 2nd
