The Grand Soleil 44, designed by Matteo Polli Yacht Design, represents a pinnacle in high-performance yacht design. With a focus on optimising for ORC and IRC racing, this 44-footer seamlessly combines racing prowess with the amenities expected of a cruising yacht. The interior offers a practical layout featuring an owner’s stateroom forward with an ensuite head and shower, alongside two double staterooms aft, sharing a common head and shower. The galley, located amidships, boasts ample storage and preparation space, complemented by a U-shaped dinette seating eight, convertible into an additional berth. Adjacent, a settee doubles as an extra bunk, accompanied by a functional nav station.

The Designers tested four different hull shapes using CFD (computational fluid dynamics) technology originally developed for the Prada America’s Cup team. The final version offers a good performance to rating ratio for those who want to race, together with a low centre of gravity which also benefits cruisers.
