Sanity returns

So the Star and Etchells classes have acted at last to restrict the on-the-water access of coaches during race days. Thank the Lord.

It’s no surprise that it was the Star class that took the lead, beating its Etchells rivals to the change by a few weeks! The Stars are often bang on the pace when it comes to responding to trends in the sport; that is why the class is thriving as it enters its 99th season. I fervently hope that many other classes see the sense in this decision and follow the lead of the world’s most ­successful and enduring top-level one-design fleet.
