Above Average2007 has been a pretty good year, not perfect but pretty good. The America’s Cup carried mixed emotions for me and all of Emirates Team New Zealand. Sweeping away Luna Rossa, who swept away BMW Oracle, confirmed TNZ had put to rest the horrors of 2003. Funny how things work out... Luna Rossa and Prada before them enjoyed a good relationship with TNZ; both teams sailed hard with no quarter given but there was always a feeling of mutual respect — something neither team felt for Oracle. Emirates Team New Zealand were a bit like the phoenix that rose from the 2003 ashes; in 2007 Team New Zealand showed the world that 2003 was just a bad — albeit VERY BAD — dream. The Cup races against Alinghi this year... they beat us, messy as it was, with some bad blood between the two teams. In the end they won and we lost. I could give you my review but that doesn’t matter 5-2 is the final score. It seems criminal what has happened since....
