Lionel Lemonchois won the Route du Rhum on Gitana XI, designed by VPLP and first launched as Belgacom 2 back in 2001. Since then the boat has been developed extensively, most recently with a new board/trim-tab and main rudder, plus a new underbody grafted onto the main hull last winter with a finer entry for better speed in light airs
