There have been several exciting developments on the hydrofoil scene since the Australian summer started in earnest. The first 18-Foot Skiff hydrofoil has flown and the growing number of Moth hydrofoils are now demonstrating their all-round competitiveness. After much debate the International Moth Class has finally decided that rule interpretation effectively bans wing tip mounted hydrofoils. The reasoning behind this is that the Moth is a monohull and that wing tip mounted foils may contribute multihull-like stability.
