More than one way to skin a cat

[Ed's note: It is worth highlighting that both this piece and next month's look at fins and winglets were written by Hollom well ahead of the final, giving his conclusions added prescience] Keep an open mind An observer viewing the very different appendage concepts of the Louis Vuitton finalists Oracle and Alinghi, and the latest two Team New Zealand boats at their unveiling, could be excused for thinking that after four events and many millions (or is it by now billions) of dollars of research, the America's Cup design community are very little nearer designing the ultimate boat to the current rule than they were 11 years ago. Talk of a design plateau seems to be a little premature... or is it an excuse for a lack of imagination?
