Unfinished business

Back in 1986 Nigel Irens created one of his all-time favourite designs, a 75ft trimaran - Fleury Michon 8 - with which Philippe Poupon was just starting to dominate the multihull scene when the boat was outlawed by a newly introduced maximum length limit of 60ft. Now Irens has another go with Ellen MacArthur's announcement of B&Q, a new 75ft shorthanded trimaran with which La Petite Anglaise plans to rewrite the solo record books
